Fade Friday is here boys and girls and have we got a grail status pair of Samurai Jeans S710xx for you. This week’s fade comes to us from Michael Soo of Philadelphia. Working in a biochemistry lab with nary a dress code in sight, he’s put plenty of wear into this pair of jeans and it shows given these are only 15 months in.

In addition, Michael usually walks or bikes to work, guaranteeing he put more reps into his Sams. The fading here is intense all over, and going to white in the top block on both the front and the back. The whiskers are good, even tearing; the honeycombs are better, but the standout here perhaps is the stacks.

Being an active person, he’s worn these jeans all over. To be sure, these S710xx’s have picked up some damage along the way; Michael darned the crotch blowouts and pocket fraying, He even used some of Samurai’s “katana selvedge” to repair the coin pocket, where Michael keeps his chapstick and flash drive. Perhaps these jeans can now ride into the denim sunset, and join the others in faded glory.

As we’ve seen time and time again, there’s nothing wrong with a good ol’ pair of Levi’s. Case in point: Andrew Hagler’s reliable 501 STFs as his go-to casual attire for three solid years. In this time he’s done a fair amount to give his trusty Levi’s the look they have.

Substantial loss of dye and vivid creases give this pair of jeans a naturally interesting appeal. Nicely defined combs and whiskering aside, heavy wear patterns are evidence to the utilitarian nature of these pants. Add a little bit of embedded grime and you have yourself a worthy FoTD showcase.

The way things are going, we might start referring to Fade Friday as “Another-Pair-of-Insane-Jeans-from-Southeast-Asia Friday,” because these submissions keep getting better and better. Today’s fades were sent to us by Bintang Tri from Indonesia, where he wore these Hoya Ironwoods for the last twelve months.

Biking, hiking, drinking, and hanging with friends are a few of the everyday activities these Hoyas saw with only one wash and two soaks to speak of. One of the best parts of these jeans is the super dark areas of retained indigo, contrasting the crazy back pocket fades and bright honeycombs. Bintang’s denim theory is simple: keep away from water and just be who you are. Well said!

There’s a reason the Levi’s 501 is widely considered the king of blue jeans. All history aside, the fact that you can still go out today and pick up a pair of unsanforized 501 STF‘s for around $50 is reason enough to want to give them a shot, and as it turns out they don’t look too bad over time either.

Today we are looking at a pair owned for three years by Robert Tudisco, who tells us that these are his favorite pair of jeans for a couple of reasons. They fit perfectly and have seen many a good time with him, from college years to camping and hiking, and some travel abroad, too. They have seen super glue, rough edges, blood, and dirt, and have the scars to prove it but are still kicking.

A patched hindquarter and some blown out knees are a small price to pay when your jeans give you so much value, and it’s probably safe to assume that Robert won’t be switching pairs anytime soon.

To say Andy Gogol has put his Self Edge x Iron Heart SEXIHXINDO16 through a lot would be an understatement. From the workshop to the road, these heavyweight unsanforized jeans have seen it all. Designed with the Indonesian market in mind, the SEXIHXINDO16 is a heavyweight contender that can expect to develop highly contrast fades, which is quite apparent in this pair.

In four years he’s washed and soaked them one time each, and the results speak for themselves. The honeycombs are deep and prominent whilst the front panels are significantly whiskered with almost no dye remaining.

What’s most impressive about these jeans though is the extent of repair they’ve required. The crotch, cuffs, rear belt loop, back right pocket, and even one of the fly buttonholes have been restored to give the denim a second life.

After just six months of daily utilitarian wear, Anthony Frazier has put some serious fades into his 21/23oz Iron Heart IH-666-UHR selvedge jeans. In a short time, he’s washed them twice with two additional soaks, which has arguably helped to create consistent fades and heavy loss of dye in certain areas.

The combs are starting to develop nicely as are the whiskers in the lap. Also notable are the mobile phone and wallet fades which add character to these heavyweight jeans.

Although the crotch will be heading in for repairs soon, we’re seeing a solid pair of jeans that have been through the wringer and still have a healthy life ahead.
